Winners of the Mabati-Cornell Kiswahili Prize for African Literature. Ali Hilal Ali(left) and Dotto Rangimoto were announced the winners by Chair of the Board of Trustees, Abdilatif Abdalla. Ali Hilal Ali(Tanzania) won in the fiction category with his novel Mmeza Fupa, whereas Dotto Rangimoto (Tanzania) won in the poetry category with Mwanangu Rudi. Both pocketed $5,000 each.They later read excerpts of their work organized by the Kiswahili Department at the University of Nairobi in collaboration with Cornell University, USA.
