Hongera Profesa Mwangi kwa Kutambuliwa na Rais

Prof. Iribe Mwangi, mwalimu wa Kiswahili ni miongoni mwa Wakenya 460 waliotuzwa na Rais William Ruto katika sherehe za Kitaifa za 59 za jamuhuri. 

Profesa Iribe ni ni mwenyekiti wa Idara ya Kiswahili chuo kikuu cha Nairobi. Aliweza kutunukiwa tuzo ya Head of State Commendation (HSC) kwa mchango wake katika makuzina maendeleo ya Kiswahili ambayo yameathiri sera ya lugha nchini Kenya.

TANZANIA YAANZISHA DARASA LA KWANZA LA KISWAHILI NCHINI MALAWI

Darasa la Kiswahili Nchini Malawi ni sehemu ya Jitihada za Serikali ya Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania kupitia Ubalozi wake Nchini Malawi kukipeleka kiswahili nje kama Lugha, utamaduni na bidhaa. Darasa la kwanza limeendeshwa na Wataalam wa kiswahili kutoka Baraza la Kiswahili la Taifa (BAKITA) na baadaye darasa hilo litaendelezwa kwa ushirikiano kati ya Chuo Kikuu Huria cha Tanzania na Chuo Kikuu cha Hebron cha Nchini Malawi.

 

Bunge la kitaifa lajadili uwepo wa baraza la kiswahili

Wabunge wanasema ni wakati kwa Kenya kubuni baraza la kitaifa la kiswahili, kusaidia kuipa lugha hii hadhi inayostahiki. Wabunge waliokuwa wakichangia hoja ya mbunge wa Kamukunji Yusuf Hassan walisema kuwa, kuimarishwa kwa utumizi na hadhi ya kiswahili kutasaidia kuimarisha utangamano zaidi, sio tu hapa nchini na kanda ya Afrika Mashariki, bali pia dunia nzima ambapo lugha hii inaenziwa.

Mapping Nairobi's Linguistic Profile

Nairobi's population is increasingly diverse, younger, and linguistically versatile. Recent demographic reports show that over half of the city's four million residents are under thirty-five years and identify with disparate ethnicities and nationalities. Besides the fifty or more Kenyan languages spoken varyingly across the county, speech communities from Burundi, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Rwanda, South Africa, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, and Zimbabwe continue to enrich the city's linguistic mosaic.

Mwinyimsa alijuzwa kwangu mkereketwa mkubwa wa Kiswahili, Wambugu Yusuf. Wote wawili waliniuliza swali, “Prof, kuna mipango ipi kuhusu maadhimisho ya siku ya Kiswahili?” Niliwajibu nilivyowezeshwa.

Siku iliyofuata Henry Indindi, mwanafunzi wangu wa zamani kama vile Yusuf, aliniuliza swali lilo hilo na jana, Jackton Nyonje, alitaka kujua kama kuna mipango yoyote ya kuadhmisha. Inadhihirika kwangu kwamba kuna wengi wanaojiuliza swali hili na kwa sababu hiyo naona bora kutoa maelezo machache nilioyonayo hapa, japo kwa kifupi.

Uganda adopts Swahili as an official language

Uganda’s Cabinet has approved the implementation of an East African Community (EAC) directive to adopt Swahili as the official language, the Daily Monitor reported.

The directive was issued on June 10, 2022, during the closure of training exercises by the armed forces of member states, comprising Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Burundi, Tanzania, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The directive is aimed at easing communication and promoting culture, trade and unity among the EAC member states.
